The programs in Justice Services provide a range of support options for those individuals involved in the criminal justice system and who are often experiencing multiple and complex problems.
The Sex Offender Support Program is a voluntary program which commenced in 8th August 08, funded by the Department of Justice. It provides support for those prisoners who have received a sentence for sex offences and are either eligible for or have participated in the Corrections Services Sex Offender Program. Support is given to those who have a community based disposition or are serving a prison sentence.
COATS is a state wide service funded through the Department of Human Services (DHS). Its role is to provide a comprehensive drug and alcohol assessment, and then develop a treatment plan for forensic clients who have come before the criminal justice system and have a treatment component to their Community Order or parole.
COATS then purchases appropriate treatment from DHS accredited agencies.
