Who is this service targeted towards?

Someone who is experiencing issues arising from their use of alcohol or drugs which could place themselves or others at risk of harm; and who have not found sufficient help from other health care providers.

We will conduct an intake to find out more about their needs and in order to help them access the most appropriate services.

If you are between the ages of 16-64 and have a mental health illness which significantly impacts your daily functioning, ACSO can assist you to access the appropriate supports and services.

We can assist through:

Determining your likely eligibility for mental health support via the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

What is Partners in Wellbeing?
The Partners in Wellbeing program aims to provide support for your mental health and wellbeing during the Coronavirus pandemic and beyond. This free phone service offers one-on-one support to help you improve your wellbeing, develop strategies to cope and provide emotional support when and as you need it. If you are not coping or have been feeling distressed, anxious or down over several weeks, help is available through Partners in Wellbeing service.

Partners in Wellbeing is funded by the Victorian Government and is being delivered by Neami National, EACH and the ACSO across Victoria.

Responsive Assessment Planning Intervention & Diversion Service


RAPID's supports post-release offenders who are identified as being at risk of re-offending due to problematic substance use. The RAPIDs Service is available at any time during the participants engagement with the program.


This service will provide:

  • Same day alcohol and other drug assessment if notified before 2.30 pm

  • Alcohol and other drug assessment within 24 hours if notified after 2.30pm

  • Referral to treatment with community service agency.

  • Referral for bridging support.

  • Consultation with Corrections case managers.


Same day assessment

The Assessment will utilise a range of tools including the ASSIST, ABI/Mental health and Audit screenings to determine a participants needs and identify appropriate treatment options. Assessment will take approximately 1 hour with information used to develop an individual care plan, based on individual needs and preferences. The assessor will organise a pathway of care based on immediate, short, medium, and longer term needs and will link with alcohol and other drug treatment services to organise an initial contact for the participant..

Established in 1997 COATS is a state-wide intake, assessment and referral service that administers both State funded and Commonwealth funded treatment pathways for clients in contact with the Justice System or at risk of coming into contact with the Justice System.  ACSO is contracted to deliver specialist forensic drug and alcohol assessments, treatment planning and brokerage (including purchase of) Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) treatment for consumers referred from the criminal justice system, providing a link between justice and drug treatment services.

The COATS program includes provision of specialist forensic AOD intake and assessment services for a range of justice services including Community Corrections, Courts and the Adult Parole Board.  COATS also arrange and brokers Assessment and treatment services with community based AOD services for Youth Justice, Specialist Courts, and Diversion Programs such as Police Drug Diversion.
