Mandatory Compliance Requirements
Please note, ACSO have some compliance requirements that all employees must satisfy. The position description and job advertisement will specify which compliance requirements are needed for each individual role. We will provide more information on these requirements during the recruitment process.
All roles at ACSO
ACSO employees undergo a National Police Record Check (NPRC) on a three yearly basis. We will arrange an NPRC on your behalf (at our expense) during the recruitment process if you are a preferred candidate.
Client-facing (operational) roles at ACSO
As a registered NDIS provider, ACSO employees in risk assessed roles are required to hold an NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (at their own expense) before they commence employment with ACSO. This is a new national check introduced by the NDIS Commission effective 01 February 2021. The check is valid for five years and transferable across NDIS providers.
Roles with exposure to people under 18 years of age
Any role with the potential to work with children will also require an employee Working with Children Check (WWCC).

Recruitment tips
We want you to do your best in your interview, so here are some handy tips that may help you throughout the recruitment process:
Research ACSO
- Know who we are and what we do, reflect on how our values align with yours.
- Appreciate that we are a not-for-profit organisation focused on partnering with government and the community to co-design services that create real social change.
- Reflect on the fact that working in an organisation such as ACSO can be challenging and isn’t for everyone, but if you are suited to it, it is a deeply rewarding and satisfying career.
Application
- Make sure your resume is up to date and includes your recent work history and your key skills.
- Include a personalised cover letter (one page maximum), ensuring to address any questions or key selection criteria listed in the job advertisement. Make sure you outline why you think you are suited to working with us and how you think you can contribute to the ACSO team – explain why you believe you can do the job, why you are motivated to work with us, and how your values are a good fit with ours.
- Proofread your application before submitting it. We recommend getting someone else to help you proofread it – a fresh set of eyes can make all the difference!
Interview
- Prepare to answer motivational, experience based, competency and behavioural questions – we use the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) methodology. We suggest you Google it if you are unsure!
- Make sure you’ve read the position description (PD) and are familiar with the key deliverables of the position. The PD is provided on our recruitment site when you apply. If you need a copy before your interview, please reach out to request it!
- Think about specific examples of how your experience corresponds with the position that you have applied for and prepare to apply the STAR steps to your answers.
- Arrive 5 – 10 minutes early so you’re not late and can relax before the interview.
