Transition to Work

TtW provides support to local young people and businesses in the Illawarra to match jobseekers with available employment opportunities.

A team of committed Youth Development Coaches and Employer Engagement Officers work alongside young people to find the right job for them and employers to find the right person to join their business.

For Young People

  • Set achievable goals and making a job plan

  • Build on your strengths and interests

  • Find you the right training

  • Assist you with resumes and marketing yourself to employers

  • Identify suitable jobs for you

  • Provide financial support to purchase a uniform or work clothing

  • Stay in touch with you once you’ve got the job and provide ongoing support to you and your employer

For Employers

  • Identify suitable local young people to join your business

  • Provide weekly support during the initial stages of employment

  • Directly contribute to the costs of recruitment, including training and wages

  • Wherever applicable, provide wage-subsidies to ensure the employer is supported to sustain the employment

  • Coach employers in workplace mentoring strategies to better support their young employees

  • Help employers access suitable vocational training and programs

  • Liaise with Australian Apprenticeships Support Network (AASN) for apprentice and trainee sign-ups.
